Stena is a hand-blown glass carafe that utilizes the thermal properties of natural soapstone. The stone and glass come into perfect contact, allowing for the transmission of coldness. By freezing the stone before use, Stena keeps a chilled drink cold for a longer period of time.
When Juliana noticed that people were increasingly becoming disconnected from nature, she felt the need to share her own strong connection with it by creating something that would bring a piece of the outside world into their homes. This led to the birth of Stena, a product that creates a direct link between people and nature by utilizing the storage capacity and thermal properties of soapstone.
During the glass-blowing process, the fluid glass of Stena takes on the angular contours of the natural stone, resulting in a unique, individual shape for each sculpture. The combination of the rough, unpolished stone and delicate-looking glass creates a striking aesthetic that makes the carafe a sculptural masterpiece even when empty. Each piece is handmade and one-of-a-kind.
